“Charlotte Informatics 2012:  Competing and Winning through Analytics” is a groundbreaking conference for the Charlotte business community.  It will bring a diverse group of leading national thinkers, visionaries, experts and executives from business, technology and education to discuss the impact of “big data” and analytics.

Research conducted by more than 60 undergraduate students was showcased at the recent Undergraduate Research Conference. As part of the event, the first recipients of the Stephen H. Mosier Undergraduate Research Award for Science and the J. Murrey Atkins Library Research Awards were honored.

Seniors from the William States Lee College of Engineering will present their year-long projects at the annual Senior Design Exposition Thursday, May 3. Notable projects include recycling machine games, a beach wheelchair and numerous energy-related projects in support of UNC Charlotte’s Energy Production and Infrastructure Center.

The J. Murrey Atkins Library continues to build its digital collections; it recently added 37 streaming videos of Shakespeare plays. The videos were produced by the BBC between 1978 to 1985.

Ken Reardon, director of the graduate program in city and regional planning at the University of Memphis, will discuss “Promoting Transformational Change in South Memphis: Lessons from the South Memphis Community/University Partnership” at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 26, in the Cone University Center, Room 208.
