Karen Cox, associate professor of history, recently attended a special dinner at the Executive Mansion to honor noted North Carolina authors.

Gov. Beverly Perdue and her husband Robert Eaves Jr. hosted the dinner and invited attendees, which included historians, novelists and poets currently living and working in North Carolina.

Bistro 49 will present a unique Earth Day “Home Grown” dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 20.

Located in the Student Union, Bistro 49 will offer a dinner of meats, cheeses, seafood, vegetables, fruits, wine and honey served “amuse-bouche,” which means tantalizing tastes of something special in several courses.

To recognize graduating doctoral students on their academic commitment, the Graduate School will host a special commencement dinner at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 17, at the Harris Alumni Center.

According to Graduate School officials, the evening will be for graduating doctoral students, their advisors and guests to "honor these exceptional graduate students and welcome them into the growing community of scholars at the University.  Many of these students have dedicated their academic career to UNC Charlotte, and the Graduate School would like to send them out with fond memories of their time here."
